About the Coral Reef Institute

We focus on rigorous Science to educate the public & advocate
policymakers to achieve conservation, protection and restoration of coral reefs.

Coral Reef  Institute was founded in 2003 and was formed by professional divers, academicians, educators,
and conservationists.

Operations Base is Phuket Island, Thailand which borders the Andaman Sea and provides close access
to many islands and sites of coral reefs. CRI is also working closely with eco-aware partners in Perth, Western Australia.

The Institute was formed by professional divers, academicians, educators, and conservationists.

CRI is a not-for-profit organization funded from an initial grant from the director, volunteers and staff members.

Coral Reef Institute’s sources of continuing financial resources are derived from our scuba educational
training programs, member contributions, grants, and income from the sale of Coral Reef Institute products.
