The PADI Divemaster Course
Description

PADI Dive Master rating is where your adventure as a dive professional begins.

A Dive Master is a leader, someone to whom others turn to, to solve problems, for advice, for assistance and just to make the dive more convenient and more fun.

Once you earned your Dive Master certification, you have achieved a level that fewer than 1 in 10 divers achieved worldwide it is an honor and a responsibility!

As a Dive Master you must have exemplary diving and rescue skills, professional-level knowledge of dive theory, know what your instructor needs regarding logistics, equipment etc. You also accept responsibility for certified divers within the context of leading or managing diving activities.

As a result you must have good people skills and good judgment, display common honesty and courtesy and follow responsible dive practices. Most of all you must show a lot of enthusiasm and show people how to have fun!

Your attitude toward diving will bring divers back for more!

Prerequisites
  • PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or have proof of certification beyond entry level (at least 2 certifications) and proof of 20 or more logged dives with experience in Deep and Navigation.
  • Be a certified PADI Rescue Diver or proof of certification in diving rescue from a training organization other than PADI and proof of CPR and First Aid training within the past 24 months.
  • Completed and logged at least 20 dives.
  • Be 18 years old at start of course.
  • Medical clearance certificate from a doctor.
Course Outline

During your Dive Master Course you will do the following:

1.     Knowledge Development (12 Topics).

2.     Water skills and stamina (swim & float).

3.     Practical application (Mapping project, DM conducted program, etc.)

4.     Exam.

  • Cylinder (optional)
  • Regulator
  • Alternate air source
  • BCD
  • Weight system
  • Wetsuit
  • Timing device and depth gauge (or computer)
  • Compass
  • Knife / dive tool
  • Emergency signaling device (whistle, surface marker or flare)

  • Possess strong communication and exceptional customer service skills

  • Maintain an organized and neat work environment

  • Be passionate about your interests and personal growth

  • Adhere to training standards as set by PADI, EFR and the dive center

  • Demonstrate effective time management

  • Follow personal and professional safe diving practices

  • Comply with the the Dive Centres dress code and code of conduct as described in employee handbook

  • Demonstrate superb mentoring for peers and students
