First Aid Courses

The key to survival for any person who has suffered Cardiac Arrest is having somebody nearby who can call for help and perform basicFirst aid life support (CPR)

Often bystanders don't know how to perform CPR or do not telephone the appropriate Emergency Services who can provide advance life support (i.e.: equipped with a defibrillator to correct the heart rhythm). People are often too afraid of making things worse to try to help. First aid is a legal requirement in most businesses and activities. When you attend your First Aid Course you will not only learn when & how to call the Emergency Services you will also learn how to perform CPR and treat many emergency accident and illness situations. The victim could be a close friend or a member of your family. There are many diseases and accidents that affect rescuers and with the right knowledge, you will know how to protect yourself and the victim and stay safe. By learning the basics now before the need arises, you will be prepared to handle whatever comes your way.

What would you do?

In a recent survey of over 10,000 first aid students, 44% came across medical emergencies. Of these 99% offered or provided emergency care. You do not know how you would deal with a situation until it happens but with our expert training you will understand the risks as well as knowing how to treat the victim.

The Courses:

The Emergency First Response Primary Care course covers emergency care for most life-threatening situations. It teaches you how to provide CPR, Expired Air Resuscitation and AED to a victim.

This course is not only essential to all diving professionals, but part of the Rescue Diver Course and and can be taken by non-divers, too.

Usualy this course is taught in conjunction with EFR Secondary Care.

Secondary

The Emergency First Response Secondary Care course covers secondary patient assessment and first aid. Secondary patient assessment teaches participants how to conduct patient evaluations, allowing them to determine the extent of an injury or illness when Emergency Medical Service personnel are unavailable or delayed.

Participants learn both injury and illness assessment sequences, which helps

them prepare information for EMS personnel. The first aid portion of the

course teaches participants how to support and care for specific disabilities,

injuries and illnesses discovered during a secondary patient assessment and

prior to EMS arrival.

This course is usualy taught together with the EFR Primary Care.

Care for children

The Emergency First Response Care for Children course teaches people

how to provide emergency care for injured or ill children and infants. This course allows participants to learn, practice and apply emergency care skills in

a non-stressful environment that encourages action. By introducing knowledge and skills in simple steps, participants find it easy to remember and use

appropriate emergency care procedures when faced with a child in need.

The Emergency First Response Care for Children course may be conducted as a stand-alone program for individuals who have the well-being of

children as a primary focus or in conjunction with EFR Primary and Secondary Care.

First aid at work

Emergency First Response First Aid at Work-Asia Pacific is a CPR and first aid course specifically designed to meet workplace requirements in the Asia Pacific region. Occupational health and safety legislation in many countries stipulate that businesses must have first aid trained personnel on staff and the Emergency First Response First Aid at Work (Asia Pacific) course can be used to meet this requirement.

To ensure consistency between the various CPR/first aid courses that are currently being offered there are course approvals processes or vocational training guidelines that must be met. These vary between countries and sometimes between a country's states/territories.

Emergency First Response First Aid at Work (Asia Pacific) currently meets the requirements in following Australian states/territories:

Australia

New South Wales - Work Cover NSW approval #01346

Queensland

Northern Territory

Western Australia

Victoria

Australian Capital Territory

Tasmania.

EFR Instructor

The Emergency First Response Instructor Course provides qualified individuals with the additional training necessary to teach the Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR), Secondary Care (First Aid) and Care for Children courses. This course builds on the instructor candidates’ kills as primary and secondary care providers and focuses on developing their instructional abilities. Through independent study, classroom sessions and practice teaching assignments, instructor candidates learn to conduct the Emergency First Response programs. Individuals who are current CPR/first aid instructors with another qualifying organization may choose to earn the Emergency First Response Instructor rating by completing a prescribed program based on portions of the Emergency First Response Instructor Course, the Emergency First Response Instructor Crossover Program. This program gives credit to their teaching experience and focuses on familiarizing them with the Emergency First Response program philosophy and structure.
