PADI IDC Instructor
training on Phi Phi and Phuket

The PADI Staff Instructor Course.
Similar to the partnership between AI's and Instructors,
IDC Staff Instructors work with Course Directors as important
team members in the instructor training process. As a Staff
Instructor you may assist instructor development programs and
instructor-level continuing education programs. You can also
teach the PADI Assistant Instructor Course, a responsibility
only you and a PADI Course Director share.
Our IDC Staff Course gives you at least two full-days with
the Course Director prior to an IDC, then you'll take part in a
complete IDC program. Even if you don't have the goal of
becoming a Course Director, the Staff Course will give you a
real "vitamin injection" in your existing teaching techniques.
What can PADI IDC Staff Instructor do? |
|
1. Independently teach and certify PADI Assistant
Instructors.
2. Conduct IDC training segments under the direct
supervision of a PADI Course Director.
3. Evaluate and critique instructor candidate knowledge
development, confined water and open water teaching
presentations.
4. Provide counseling and remedial training for
instructor candidates and IDC Staff Instructor candidates.
5. Assist with training during instructor-level
continuing education programs, such as PADI Specialty
Instructor Training courses.
6. Observe the orientation and closing sessions of PADI
Instructor Examinations. |

Status Update
The primary goal of the Status Update program is to orient
PADI Instructors to changes in PADI Standards-allowing them to return to
teaching status after a lapse in PADI Membership. A Course Director will
update your instructor knowledge and training by conducting a review to
cover Standards changes and new materials released during the time you
were not renewed.
Requirements to regain teaching status are based on several
factors. Regaining teaching status may require a Status Update or
complete retraining. Please be sure to contact PADI first to verify what
is required for your particular situation.
The Status Update is also an effective refresher course for
renewed PADI Instructors. In some instances, PADI Members may be
assigned (by the PADI Quality Management Committee) to attend a Status
Update for specific remediation.

IDC Audit
Some PADI Instructors will find that they have a need or
desire to audit a complete Instructor Development Course (IDC.)
This may be required by PADI in order to return to teaching
status after a lapse in PADI Membership. Requirements to regain teaching
status are based on several factors. Please be sure to contact PADI
first to verify what is required for your particular situation.
Some IDC Staff Instructors will choose to audit an IDC in
order to gain valuable and required experience in the PADI instructor
development process.
