PADI IDC Instructor training on Phi Phi and Phuket

PADI Instructor Courses IDC Phuket Phi Phi Thailand

                   THE  PADI INSTRUCTOR EXAMINATION.

The purpose of the PADI IE is to evaluate an Instructor candidate's knowledge and dive skills in order to earn a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor certificate. Candidates are evaluated by PADI Examiners sent from their regional home office. The IE is an evaluation program that tests the candidate's teaching ability, dive theory knowledge, confined water skills and confined water teaching presentations, teaching ability in open water, rescue demonstration in open water, understanding of the PADI system and the ability to demonstrate a positive attitude and professionalism. 

                            REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO ENROLL FOR AN IE:

After having successfully completed an OWSI program or an entire IDC candidates will be eligible to participate in a PADI IE. The following documentation is also required:

  • IDC certificate of completion or an IE certification of participation supplied by a Course Director.
  • A minimum of 100 logged dives and for the candidates following a crossover program, either an IDC or OWSI, you must show proof of experience in deep, night and navigation.
  • IE enrolment form with the appropriate PADI fees.
  • Medical Statement conducted within 12 months, signed & dated by a physician.
  • A PADI decal sticker found in your Instructor Candidate Workbook.

    Day 1

  • Score 75 percent or higher in all five sections of the dive theory exam. Only one makeup in one section is allowed.
  • Score 75 percent or higher on the Systems, Standards and Procedures exam. No makeup is allowed.

    Day 2

  • Score a 3.4 or higher in an assigned confined water teaching presentation. One makeup presentation is allowed.
  • Score a 3.0 or higher in a  five skill demonstration. In addition, score a total of 17 points or more on the entire skill circuit. If the score is less than 17 points, a makeup on all five skills is allowed. If one skill scores less than 3.0, but the total points are 17 points or more, one makeup is allowed for the one skill. Passing makeup score is 3.0 or higher for any skill and no less than 17 total points if demonstrating all five skills.
  • Score a 3.5 or higher in an assigned knowledge development teaching presentation. One makeup presentation is allowed.

    Day 3

  • Score a 3.5 or higher on two assigned open water teaching presentations. No makeup is allowed.
  • Demonstrate competence in the rescue of a scuba diving victim simulating unconsciousness/non breathing at the surface. One makeup is allowed.
  • Demonstrate competence with all dive skills during confined water and open water sessions.
  • Demonstrate professional behavior, attitude and actions during all phases of the IE.

                                                              CERTIFICATION

IE candidates are certified PADI OWSI and are eligible to teach only when candidate registration documents and IE forms are processed by their local PADI office, it usually takes 14 working days and in some regions an insurance requirement must be met.
